PART ONE:

Choose one of the following:

  1. Put Makeup on a Woman's  Portrait and either add make-up using paintbrush, colour, the clone tool and opaque settings.  Here are some images or use your own choice:  click images of girls
  2. Dress someone up for Purim
  3. Fix an old photo, using the healing tool to fix tears and splotches.  You can also use the sharpen and blur tools as appropriate. Use this photo: http://www.ontariojewisharchives.org/exhibits/TorontoSynagogues/synogogues/Minsk/images/Early%20history/06.html

PART TWO:

Choose one of the following:

  1. Open the cabinet image at: http://www.krisfontes.com/graphic%20design%20contemporary%20cabinet.jpg. Fill it with objects that represent yourself! Find them on the internet and change the size to fit, removing any background.
  2. Create a "digital painting" from scratch using any of the tools available. You can start with an image you find, but you have to significantly change it so it becomes your own.

EDITING & ETHICS

Is it ethical to retouch photos and then present them as reality. An interesting question.

PHOTOSHOP SECTION

Photoshop - in case you own it

Photoshop is a graphics editing program that is a very feature rich application, like a super MS Paint! You can design pictures from scratch or fix red-eye on your photos.  The main problem is that it is very expensive.  You can download a demo from the Adobe site for 30 days.

Here is a good tutorial on Photoshop basics: http://getit.rutgers.edu/tutorials/photoshop7/index.html

GIMP SECTION

GIMP is a completely free photo editing program that has many of the same features as Photoshop.
That's what we will be using.
